How black is the night

When everything in life went wrong
And everything I had was gone
Convinced I couldn't carry on
I set off the water

My life was hid in mortal man
In fear and hopelessness a plan
I tried to end what you began
And prayed the sea to take me

The deep was spread from East to west
My heart was pounding in my chest
And on my lips, my thoughts expressed

In haunting word and whisper
Oh how black is the night
How bright the break of dawn
When the angels come to lead me

The storm raged on and fierce it grew
My heart was pierced and broke in two
And far too late I thought of you
And to my knees I crumbled

Lightning flash and thunder roar
Waves of 25 foot more
Wrecked and broken on the shore
Alive but barely breathing

And as the wind and waves subside
More than luck is on my side
And I count my blessings deep and wide
And vow to make the morning

Oh how black is the night
How bright the break of dawn
When the angels come to lead me

The sun it rises in the sky
I look to you and wonder why
You couldn't sit and watch me die
You had to go and save me
